Returning shoes without receipt

I bought a pair of boots (€135) from a mid Market shoe shop. I still have the box but can't find the receipt. I bought them about a month and have worn them a handful of times. The problem is one of the boots stitching is starting to unravel and only for the lining, there is a hole. It wouldn't take long for a big hole to appear. The boots have never been abused and i have skinny legs, so it wasn't because of overstretching.

Can anyone tell me what I can do? I've spent the last few days searching for the flipping receipt but can't find it. Can I still bring them back? It seems like a lot of money to pay for shoddy goods :(

    Hiya,
    Just a few questions first.
    1. has the box got anything on it that might prove it was bought in that store?sticker barcodes can sometimes be placed over the boxes barcode and can sometimes be unique to that store only.
    2. did you pay by debit or credit card? if so you could show your statement to them and that would prove it was bought in that store.
    3. are the shoes branded and a current line only sold in that store

If any of these apply you should be ok for a credit note or and exchange for stock to the value of the "current selling" price of the boots your returning.

if none of these apply you may get no joy.

    Hi Daisy
Thanks for the reply. Yes the box is the brand name for the shop and I paid by credit card and the boots are in the shop window. So that's great!

The only thing is I will be returning the shoes to a branch in my hometown eventhough I bought them in Dublin. I just won't be goin back to Dublin for a few weeks.

If they are faulty then you are entitled to a refund, repair or replacement. In this case they are not fit for the purpose intended. You might have to convince them though that you did not wear them out! If they are current stock, and I'm guessing if they're boots they're pretty new in for winter, it may be easier to prove as they actually haven't been in stock that long.

Try get a print out of your credit card statement to use as proof of purchase.

I had a pair of shoes that were obviously worn (two wears only though!) and a piece of the clasp came off. I'd no receipt but they sent them off to be repaired, and when they couldn't be fixed, I got a new pair.

yip, i agree, with the combo of your statement showing the date and the amount paid and the braned item and box you should even be intitled to a full refund. the only problem you could incounter is if the sales assistant thinks the boots were abused but if youve only worn them a few times they should be , apart from the lose stitching, in good condition still. stick to your guns girl ! :)
