    Hi all,

The Wexford Wing Tsun school opened its doors on Monday 30th of May and since then the teacher Henry Corrigan has slowly but surely being building up its members. As part of our ongoing support for schools in the Irish Wing Tsun Organisation (IEWTO), I will travel to the Wexford school on Sunday the 9th of October to give a seminar.

The seminar will take place in the Patrick Dobbs Fitness Centre in the Clonard Retail Park from 12 - 3.15pm and will cost €25. As the Wexford school is newly opened, the seminar will act as an introduction to Wing Tsun. Everyone is welcome and the seminar will be focused to those with little or no experience. For further details please check out www.wingtsun.ie , call 086 3989345 or email info@wingtsun-wexford.ie

    Regards,

    Michael

    Hi all.

We have a few Wing Tsun guys coming down from Dublin tomorrow for the seminar so there should be a good athmosphere and we will have a bit of fun. The purpose of the seminar will be as follows.
    1. An introduction to self-defence for those with no martial arts experience.
    2. An introduction to Wing Tsun for martial artists with no Wing Tsun experience.
    3. For those with Wing Tsun experience, a chance to sharpen up/hone some of the most fundamental aspects of Wing Tsun.

There are 12 student programmes in Wing Tsun before Primary (Blackbelt) Level each of which focuses on a different area. For example in the 11th programme we deal with defences against stick attacks. However rather than waiting for years until a student has passed the 10th student grade before they can learn a defence against a stick, we have a beginners course where students touch on all areas. The beginners course is like a miniature verson of the 12 student programmes and then the three hour seminar that we will have tomorrow is like a miniature version of the beginners course. We won't touch on all the areas but will focus on the core concepts of Wing Tsun without getting bogged down in details. My main approach when teaching seminars like this is to keep Pareto's 80/20 Principle in mind.

So if anyone feels like spending three hours tomorrow learning a different martial art, let me know or just turn up at 11.45am as we will start sharp at 12pm, finish at about 3.15pm and be in the pub for a quick pint at about 3.30pm. ;)
