Emergency tax

I have just found out I was charged on the emergency tax rate for the duration of a job I worked last year. I have received my p45 for said job today, but I am wondering is it too late to reclaim my tax credits since the previous tax year has ended? Any help would be much appreciated.

You should bring your P45 (and anything else you think might be relevant e.g. rent book/ refuse charge receipts/ medical & dental receipts) to your local tax office and request a review of the year to which the income relates. If you left one job and started another in the same year, take the P60 from the second job instead.

There's a 4 year time limit so you migth consider doing the same for other years (especially if you think there might be something due back to you!)

Take both P45 and P60 if applicable, if you only received the P45 today, the details in it may not be included on the P60

take all the docs like Credit Certs P60's and your P45 as the previous posters have said along to the tax office and explain. Ask for a P21 balancing statement of the previous year(s) They ain't all that bad and if you are due a refund they can be quite efficient in getting it back to you :) Heres's hopeing you get a few quid back!!!!
