Theres a nice piece of political or gentlemanly work by Sean Gallagher.
He had already had more votes from County Councils than he needed, so in the interests of fair play to the other aspiring candidates he has asked some of the councils to vote again as he had more than he needed.

I feel he has nicely judged the mood of the electorate. Fine Gael and Fianna Fail have mis read this one.
    Thanks Sean,
    Rugbyman

He will gain some transfers for that

Sean Gallagher cannot possibly win, and never could. His entire campaign is about getting publicity and climbing from Z-list celebrity up to maybe the F-list.

This gracious-looking gesture costs him nothing since he cannot win anyhow, so it doesn't matter to him how many others get on the ballot, and it gets him a few mentions on the news.

I expect to hear about him soon on "Celebrity Chefs Line Dancing in the Jungle with Ant and Konnie!".

Yeah, but the only transfers he'll be getting will be on the elimination of Mary Davis

    Well said my friend.

I would say not even his family would vote for him.

The sheer arrogance of Sean Gallagher to propose to the people of Ireland that he should be their President is mind-boggling.

Then again he has lots of company...

I really wish that Sean Gallagher was otherwise less forgettable. I find it hard to remember that he is contesting this election - which I suppose is to be expected with only one or two candidates getting all the attention.

Is that not a little too harsh and cynical?

I think one should give credit where it’s due, it shows he has a decent streak.

He didn’t have to do it, Mary Davis didn’t.

    Nice gesture

He clocked up the support from the councils very easily and quickly
    I was surprised at that

I figured he'd be another one struggling to get on the ballot

Mary Davis is another publicity seeker.

He should apply some entrepenurial smarties and withdraw from the contest.

He gave it a go but it hasn't worked. Time to move on.

The man is a Joke.. He was canvasing for Fianna Fail and when they went down he jumped ship. As far as I know he worked on Seamus Kirks (TD) campaign..As far as him being a serious entrepreneur I would describe him as a product of the celtic tiger. He leveraged his political connection in FF to help grow his smarthome business and as soon as the going gets tough the business goes wallop… He has a cheek to even think the Irish people would consider electing him as our president. I agree he is trying to grow from a Z list celebrity to a Y list celebrity. We will see him in some crappy reality shows in the coming year guaranteed !

I'm not voting for that closeted Fianna Fáiler.

out and about today, good few people like him which makes it interesting
looks like alot of twists and turns too this election yet

The man has no notion of what the office requires or what he is able to do if voted in as President of Ireland. I suppose he might be seen as a bit of a revolutionary in that sense down in Clare, Cork City, Leitrim and Meath Co. Councils.

I know I won't be voting for Lex Gallagher

    Letter in today's IT:

, – I feel it grossly unfair that one candidate in the presidential election is being repeatedly singled out over his unsavoury past. How many times does Sean Gallagher have to reiterate that he is no longer a member of Fianna Fáil? – Yours, etc,

It was a savvy move. I had no intention of voting for the guy but he gets one of my transfers now. MDH pulled a similar stunt when he informed the Labour councillors in Dublin City not to block Norris. I'm betting 80-90% of Norris's 2nd preferences will go to Higgins anyway.

Sean Gallagher has a big disadvantage in that he is a successful business person which is a crime in Ireland today. For the reason alone he will not get the gig.

What notion would MMG have of the office? He has never lived in this country.

I agree with the MMG comment but Sean Gallagher and Dana seem to be doing this for the same reasons. They both have to know that they won't come close to sealing the deal so there has to be some other reason driving their challenges. I'm not going to say to raise their profiles as it is an awful lot of money to spend to get on the next season of Celebrity Bainisteoir. It must be dellusion driving their campaigns.
