Im wondering as above, would a northern garage be interested in taking southern registered cars as swaps. would it cost them much to reregister as they dont have to worry about VRT etc.. and if it was a former northern car, could they use the same number plates as the old reg??

They would be sold to ROI customers, either Public or Trade.

I would guess it will be worse.

Your car should be well sought after and easy to sell. What do you value it at?
    What are you buying?

most of them seem to be listed on donedeal at 7000-8000, so ive mine in at 6500 cause the mileage is 138000.. market for private selling is slim.. im looking for either a avensis t spirit or 320d m sport, 2 fairly different cars i know!

Usually worse - although not much worse sometimes

I don't think it'd matter too much. I know Ford in Derry have a partnership with a place in Dublin to take any/all ROI reg cars they take in. I'd assume there'd be a fair few such agreements as we're such a tiny island it makes sense.
