I was thinking about doing the Ipass Payroll Technician Course and was wondering what people taught of this qualification as the course is quiet expensive.

I have some accounts experience and was wondering if this course is worth doing or not.

Any help would really be appreciated.

I did this course last year. I trained in accounts but found that my payroll experience was minimal and patchy in places. So I did this course as a refresher/ proper and correct way to do payroll..

Handy if you actually do payroll which you haven't mentioned in your posting.

It starts from the basics and worked upwards and I found it explained quite well.

It is expensive though, especially when I found I did know some of the info through experience. I also did the home study which is difficult to motivate yourself at times.

    Hope this helps...

Thanks for the reply, i have about a year experience in payroll but taught it might be a good idea to get the qualification especially with todays current economic climate.

Decided to do the course in class well part 1 anyway as like u said find it very hard to motivate myself to do the home study.

How did you find the exams?

I didnt do well in the first exam (December) as I hadn't much study done with the Income Tax deadline taking up much of my time.
The summer exam I found easy as I had the study done. I found that if you practice the sample papers, the exam is much the same. I think one question was near enough the same as a sample question!

Overall, the exams aren't too challenging.

I did it last year and studied both parts at the same time, went to about 15% of classes and studied hard the week before exams and got distinction in part 1 and pass in part 2. Easy if you just read the material. Pretty basic but a good grounding.

My brother is doing this at the moment and wondering how long does it take to get exam results back? As he has exams coming up.

I think the results are out in the middle of Jan because the repeat is on in early Feb. (Hopefully we wont need to worry about Feb) :)
