2 iphones ... 1 laptop

ok, so myself and my other half have two iphones and 1 laptop (its windows). I need to update both iphones from the laptop. I did research and the apple site suggested just setting up separate user accounts on the laptop (which I have done).

I have been using itunes and my iphone was working from this, but i had not connected the second iphone at all. now i have created the second account, and itunes in there is empty, looks like it was never used as at all. Which is good, so I think that when user2 logs in and connects their iphone, all will work ok for them.

Is it really that simple though!??!!! i ask because i am very nervous about connecting the second iphone and having it sync with my contacts and losing its own data. it makes sense to me when i view the second account, it all looks ok, but i am just nervous! it will work wont it?????

i guess i thought it would all be more complicated than this to set up!

is there any data on the 2nd iphone that can be lost? e.g if there's music on the phone, and none in the itunes library it will remove the music off the phone when you sync.

Am I wrong in thinking if you have two separate user accounts on the laptop you'd also have your own individual versions of iTunes on your laptop under your respective user names?

    Should be no issue then.

I can't remember if I got an option to install just for my own account for all users of the computer when I installed iTunes a few years back.

If it's the latter option presented itself and you picked it, I'd say you won't be able to have 2 iPhones on the one laptop.

Way open to correction on that though.

the iphone is quite new so only a few songs on it, so that would not worry me. losing the contacts and photos on the phone would worry me more.

we were using one account, so i have just set the second one up. we have separate itunes account's though. I have always updated both ipods from the one account with no problems.

i was planning on just updating the iphone from the second user account thats created....i think that should work. i know the few songs that are on the iphone will be lost but im ok with that.

I've done it, not much hassle but can be a bit confusing.

Btw, if you haven't already. In iTunes - give the phones different names.

I set up a different user account on my laptop for my wife for this reason. Much tidier that way.

It's one version of itunes, but its two different itunes librarys.

I've used 3 or 4 iPods/Touch/iPhone from the one PC
