Alternatives to Toast Rack Bike Stands

Could anyone suggest an alternative to toast rack style bike stands. We have two "ten slot" racks in work. Normally we'd have ten, maybe max 16 bikes in at any one time.

Obviously the toast racks are rubbish and most bikes are secured by a quick release wheel to the rack. I worry for others bikes and would like to be able to suggest a sensible alternative.

Just how expensive are the proper Sheffield Stands?

    All suggestions are appreciated!

The toast racks are not ideal, but you can convert them with these http://www.sesservices.ie/products/products.php?cat=sf&th=15&prod=a11 so they are not as handy for bending wheels. The Sheffields are also detailed on the same page.

Sheffield stands are approx €90 each fitted from memory - bearing in moind they work better in concrete as opposed to tarmac.

From that page the Falco Toaster looks like a good solution. This is similar to what is in use in my work. The ones my building has are bolted to the ground and I assume the Falco ones can be as well. They'd be pretty hard to pick up though so bolting them down is not completely necessary.

They appear to be very easy to install, a lot easier than the Sheffield stands in use around Dublin. They are not as flexible since you can't just put one or two in a narrow gap but they are ideal to use in a car park, replacing a car space with enough parking for 10+ bikes. From the users point of view they are just as handy to use as Sheffield stands and don't have the problems with properly securing your bike and the liklihood of damaging your bike that the wheel bender style racks have.

Trust me, it is, there were a few of these a couple of years ago in UCD where a large van drove in, lads jumped out lifted all at once and drove off with the stand and bikes at once.
