    Hi Folks,

Just dropping a note to let peole know about the Green Loop Trail being opening on National Trails Day (2nd October)

The Green Loop Trail is a 36km multi-use trail that extends from the city right out to Lucan along the Royal Canal and back to the War Memorial and Phoenix Park along the Grand Canal. Overall its makes for a great cycle! (probable more suitable for mountain bikes or hybrids!)

The route is of course opened year round but the trail is being waymarked for one day initially (gates opened etc) on the 2nd October to celebrate National Trails Day 2011 and cycling will be permitted oin all parks etc along the route on the day. Depending on interest it may be opened as a permanent trail at a later date!

A Green Loop Trail Cycle is being organised on the 2nd October and if people are interested in joining this check out details on www.nationaltrailsday.ie

PLease note that number are limited and pre-registeration is required for this event!

People can also cycle the trail on the day as it will be marked. A downloadable map of the trail can be got from this link

    Cheers

Hi Folks - drop a note to nto@irishsportscouncil.ie if your interested in doing this cycle - numbers are limited for this event but people can of course cycle the trail themselves on the 2nd October as it will be waymarked with green arrows all the way around !

Map of the route is available for download on http://www.irishtrails.ie/Trail_User_Advice/Green_Loop_Trail/

Will the kissing gates be open on the Grand Canal?

Yes, we're hoping Waterways Ireland will open all gates along the Grand - at least for the first half of the day ! should make for an easier cycle around !
