moped cutting out when revved.

    Bit problem with bike.. it idle fine but cuts out when revved at all.. in typical fashion, it works fine every time i walk it to mechanic. they don't speak english but i managed to get a new carb. still same problem.

    Now im in mechanic and can't explain to them what the problem is.. anyone got any ideas? its very annoying havin no verbal communication here. thanks.

    Post the model, age, mileage etc.

    Or is it a brand we're probably unfamiliar with here?

    Seen similar on one of my old mopeds (gilera runner). Was caused by a fault in the cable that runs into the spark plug. The vibrations from the engine revving was enough to cause the spark plug to loose its power, and hence the engine cut out.

    Hard to say if it's the same issue.

    breather on the tank blocked? does it run ok with the fuel cap open?

    It's a suzuki fx 125.. Doubt anyone in Ireland would ever buy one. Ill have a look at these suggestions tomorrow. Just driving another bike since i posted tying to avoid the issue.

    Does it make any effort to rev when you open the throttle slowly or does it just outright stall?

    An engine block rebuild and a new carb for 80euro.. Running like a dream :-)
