    Hey guys,

I need to get a new laptop, will be purchasing in Currys/PC World.

Have a budget of around €400 - any laptop in that price range deserving of a mention over any others?

Was thinking of the HP G6 - would any of you more techie minded dudes recommend/avoid this one?

    Thanks all!

If you don't want it to play Blu-Rays (Full HD) then this has a much better CPU but lesser graphical ability. Smaller Harddrive also though.

    Otherwise stick with the HP.

No it doesnt. The PCW HP has a Pentium B940/4GbRAM/500Gb HDD/HDMI and a selection of colours

Your one has an older Pentium P6100/4Gb Ram250Gb HDD and comes in fractionally more expensive for a lower spec?

    Pentium b940 benchmarks: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Intel+Pentium+B940+%40+2.00GHz

    Pentium P6100 benchmark: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Intel+Pentium+P6100+%40+2.00GHz

Why stick to Curry's / PC world, you'll get a much better deal at laptops direct? If you're will to forego paying for windows you can get ubuntu for free.

I don't have time right now to find the one you think it is.

HPG6, Budget of €400, in Currys, I'm assuming is this one.

Good one alright, but check reviews on the model. I read a few reviews on different 5*** series Models lately and some weren't favorable at all.
Ah right, I don't see a better one so.

Thanks for all the replies guys, really appreciated.

Well I decided to go for the HP G6, of course nothing ever goes smoothly and all Curry and Pc Worlds are now out of stock of them and won't be getting anymore in.

So now it's back to square one.

I need to purchase in Curry / PC World as I have a €125 for there I need to use, so online stores and other merchants are out.

Any suggestions as to what's the best value laptop for a budget of around €400?
