To buy or not to buy - COD Black Ops

I've managed to last this long with out buying black ops but i'm getting tired of mw2.

I was about to buy Black Ops today but then I saw there's 4 map packs already released, it hardly seems worth buying it a year late when I'll have to pay full price for the maps.


Should I hold out in the hope Treyarch will run a promotion like they did with WaW or should I buy now? What are your opinions?

I've toyed with the idea, but with mw3 out in November I reckon I'll hold out, starting black ops now with no unlocks and no idea of the maps, I'd only be getting used to it when its time to get on the mw3 bus

whats the point? mw3 is weeks away now and you'd get levelled up to a point where you have the good stuff then everyone will jump ship to mw3. hold out I reckon.

Yeah I think I'll just have to wait and get mw3 then I might get black ops sometime in the future if they do a special on dc packs. 4 is really pushing the gravy train.

You could always buy it and not get the map packs? Should be able to get the game cheap enough now.

IMO it doesn't hold a candle to MW2..

I feel like i wouldn't be getting the full game in that case though. Especially considering I online play online.

but sure the maps it comes with are grand, the map pack I got was arse Stadium is the only good one.

First map pack is decent. The rest...................

Not worth your trouble picking up the game at this stage.

if ya ask me, you are better off running over to your playstation when ya are dyin for a fart an just fart on it. ya will get alot more entertainment outta that one little fart.

Buy it.. I bought COD 4 at Christmas just to have them all for the PS3. I did have it on PC. But wanted it on PS3

wtf why do you all hate black ops?..i like it but not as much as the MW cods, you dont need to buy the map packs anyways the original ones are better in my opinion

I don't hate it(can't say the same for a one or two other people in this thread ) it's a decent game there's no denying that even if I'm bored by the series currently. I just don't see much point in buying the game so late in the day. If it were the beginning of the summer I'd say, yeah pick it up for sure.

At this stage of the year, game releases will gradually pick up pace too. FIFA is out next week, and for fans of FPS games(not just COD fans) the game that shall not be mentioned beta is out on the 29th if I'm not mistaken :pac:

I really liked it at first but then when I went back to MW2 after about 9 months I couldn't get back into Blops

Blops is a great game, and good value for money, seen it in Smyths last weekend for 34 euros. I really hate all the Blops bashing, Wager match is a great game mode if your playing with mates, zombies is there if that's your thing, a hell of a lot better then MW2, as for MW3 I'll be buying it but to me it looks like a MW2 mappack and not seeing anything new and exciting in it.
