First time poster so be gentle :)

I drive a 2007 1.8tdci zetec mondeo with 164,000km on the clock. My mechanic has informed me that the engine contains a chain driven oil pump which he reckons is prone to failure due to the high mileage. Has anyone heard of oil chain failure in the 1.8 diesel unit? All replies greatly appreciated.

I've heard of fuel pump failure (metal from the inside of the pump) and injector failure but not oil pump failure. That's just what I have read and heard of though. Your mechanic could well be right of course.
Is there an issue with the car now?
There are a couple of mechanics that frequent these pages that should put you right, if not tonight, possibly tomorrow;)

No issue with the car at the moment. Had a few issues with injectors but have seen sorted out since. Cheers for the reply :)
