Stay away from the golf tdi. You will get hammered on insurance. Im 31 years of age have a 06 golf tdi and im still be told by insurance companies its a high performance car (clowns).

I may have replied to you before...

    Your options

Ring a broker and insurance comp direct and ask for a quote on 2 or 3 of those cars. Be prepared to be sitting down and being laughed at if its your first time insurance. Whats your budget for insurance?

Your best bet is a poxy micra fiesta or any other 1 ltr tin can Im afraid

    Or

Have a chat with mammy see will she insure and put you as a named driver
even at that expect 1k or 2k :)

Thanks for replying...Well we are set up under two cars..The brother is out on his own on a red toyota corolla..about 1200/1300..I am a named driver under the mother on a corsa..about 500/600..It would be dearer for the corsa if the brother wasnt insured on the corolla..So the new car will be under the mother again. So hopefully It will be some bit less as it is also our second car with them..

My usual answer to such a question, get your full licence first. It's illegal to drive unaccompanied so use the Corsa until you are certified fit to drive on your own.

Jas your a lucky man on your mums insurance. Anyway you know yourself get the pink slip of paper asap. Dont buy anything as silly as a corolla with body kits and whatnot. It only attracts the fuzz... If you stepping up from an opel expect to pay another couple hundred euro for bigger car.
