I have recently purchased an Epi Les Paul here on adverts, to use as a backup,
I was wondering what brand pickups have you lads used as upgrades that were decent without breaking the bank.. I am looking to go for something vintage but maybe a bit more kick in the Bridge pickup...Nothing on adverts at the moment...What Brand have you found good ..Thanks in Advance

These guys do affordable pickups that a lot of people think are great. http://www.guitarfetish.com/GFS-Guitar-Pickups_c_7.html I've never tried them but I'll probably get some jazz bass pickups from them soon.

I think Seymour duncans are very good value. Shop around on ebay or something and you should get a set of humbuckers for around 100€.

I have used SDs p-rails (neck and bridge), The SH-2b Jazz, and the STL-3 Quarter pounder. I am happy with them all.

As the lads have said, it's hard to beat the SDs, especially if you buy used. They're not cheap, they're not boutiqe either, just well made good sounding pickups. The trick is to match the right set to what you want to get out of them.
Di Marzio would be another good choice, they kicked off the whole after market pickups thing afterall. Don't really have much experience with them TBH, but those I've heard I've liked.

At the cheaper end you have brands like GuitarFetish, Irongear and so on. A friend of mine recently put some IronGears into his SG - a Dirty Torque in the bridge and one of their humbucker sized P90s in the neck. Loves the Dirty Torque, not so mad on the P90, but then he's comparing them to my BareKnuckle P90s, quite a price difference there.

Are you going to upgrade the Vol/Tone pots too? I would.

Fair point Boycey, If i am going through the trouble of changing the pickups i might as well go the whole hog and replace the pots and wiring, Gonna keep looking to see what pickups to go for , best sound i can get for the money!
Anyone try any of these aftermarket pickups and find any decent cheap ones? Thanks
