Another CE scheme question Im afraid!

Should someone who is nearing their end of their 2 year contract( and has so far been unsucessful in gaining employment) inform the Social Welfare in advance so they are not waiting weeks for a payment when they finish up?

No your claim will only be considered from the first day of unemployment.

Wait until your first day of unemployment as cee_jay has said.

While you should receive your P45 as a matter of course (ie. as soon as possible to your finish date) you could ask in advance of your finish date for a letter stating your employment details, eg number of insurable weeks, total earnings in this current financial year, start date and finish date, hours of work etc.

This is a handy letter to have for Social Welfare etc, so if you get one, be sure to keep a copy for yourself too. The same with your P45 etc, always keep a copy.
