Just saw this video and just had to post it.

My heart was actually pounding in the build up to him coming out.

I bet he had a great night sleep after that.

And when he gets up a massive hug. That is one brave and strong guy and hopefully he will always be seen for these qualities

It's so rattling to go through all that emotion before coming out. I hope he has a wonderful life!

He got the front page of Reddit too!

Here's another video of him coming out to his friend. I find it great that he actually recorded his coming out. Don't think I've ever seen someone do that before!

I guess its disheartening that his response is of shock that his friend accepts him for who he is. Also that he fears his father wont love him anymore. But I think its a problem most gay guys face, the fear of rejection.

Its also refreshing to see a non-camp (trying not to say straight acting!) guy making these videos. I find that 95% of all of those videos are of camp guys, not that I've any problem with that but its just that as a "straight acting" guy myself I feel like I can really relate.

He just posted a video of himself coming out to his mother. Seemed like she took it much harder.

It's terrible that the biggest problem his mother has with it is that a book of stories tells her being gay is wrong. Religion has people brainwashed.

He is really brave but why post it on line? Assuming that the parents didn't know (obviously) then was it fair on the parents? It is wonderful to see but something inside me feels this is a very personal experience. If the parents had of reacted another way, as would have been their right, then what? Would this have turned from a 'amazing coming out video' to a 'his terrible parents' video?
Just think as much as it is great something's are private.

    So why post it online?

The parents didn't know they were recorded and now their reactions are going to be judged by everyone.

It's a family matter, not one for youtube

He is brave for posting his situation online but not so impressed with him letting his parents get judged and their reaction dissected

Perhaps he posted it online because it was his previous online videos, of which there is quite a portfolio, are what helped him build up to coming to terms with his sexuality and coming out.

The positive video shows how things can work out with family. Its real. Its an inspiration for those in the closet, scared, lonely, terrified, without any role models or idea as to what happens.

The negative is possibly the start of a new chapter - his coming out to her coming round... I know a few people, including a family member, whos coming out experience to his mother (while in his forties) was less than pleasant. Having videos such as this can show people how attitudes change... Indeed the OH's mother reacted very badly when he came out - and since then is embarrassed about how she handled it. Maybe seeing someone else handle that would make it easier for people who are coming out themselves, or considering it, or reeling in the aftermath of family rejection.

Its his business that hes posting its not anybody elses coming out. The family should only be treating him in a manner that they wouldnt be ashamed of others seeing.

On a side note he was in Ireland last week - its on his twitter pictures of him on The Cliffs of Moher....

He is, to me, the face of "Don't Ask Don't Tell" Repeal and I really do want to (Cliché) shake his hand some day. I know he wasnt to the fore of campaigning for it, but he is a face of a progressing society in terms of LGBT equality. The face who had the courage to share his story.

Well for me these videos really helped. Any coming out videos I've seen are all camp guys, and just couldnt connect with them, not being camp myself. But I can really relate to this guy. It gives me hope.

Agree with this. On one hand I admire him for being brave but posting the thing live really just screams of attention-seeking tbh.

I agree, but nevertheless, it's important that he did post because it'll give confidence to those in the same boat as him; people who want to decipher how their own parents might react in these situations. In hindsight, there's very little of this sort of material out there, where "coming out" moments are actually recorded on tape.
