They are too small for Ireland.

Get a decent 60cm (east Coast) up to 80cm (far south west or North west) and Quad LNB. Solid is better than perforated or Mesh.

Because my brother already bought the one i linked to and he was planned on getting a Vu+ Duo. But I don't think he's to bothered with getting a set-top box now because his tv has a DVB-S2 tuner anyway.

Thanks for the links though,If he does end up getting a Duo at least he'll have that option. :)

Oh and yes,the satellite is for an apartment!

    Really?
I thought it would be fine considering it says in the description.

"Only 47.5cm in size, but delivers the performance of a 70cm dish."

Why would they even sell them in Ireland then? I'm assuming it's mostly irish people that buy from them.

But I trust your judgment Watty as I've read a lot of your posts and you seem to know your stuff!

Could you suggest any other discreet dishes he could get for an apartment balcony?

If we had Decent Trading standards they would not be able to make that claim. I suppose someone makes a 70cm so rubbish that it's the same.

Basic physics. The amount of signal available at Microwave (i.e. Freesat/Sky) is proportional to the area of reception, everything else equal.

So it can't even beat a good circular 47cm dish as that has more area than any 47cm rectangle of any shape.

Money: They sell for higher price so more money per sale.

There are plenty of unsuitable products sold in Ireland. Or Mis-sold and ASAI and Govenment Consumer Dept will do nothing as long as it's a "level" playing field between vendors without an actual cartel.
