    Hello,

i ordered 2 items costing €100 off ebay from china, one arrived , the other stopped by customs. the one that had arrived was marked as gift, and had no receipt , just the item packed. I presume that is how the second item was sent.

they want my paypal receipt to work out the tax. but the paypal receipt is for 2 items. i have friends who work and travel to china. can i just say it was an actual gift ?

i know the total bill will be only 27 euros or so , but i would prefer it in my pocket than theirs.

I think you're better to just pay it, getting someone to lie to customs to avoid tax is not a good idea, because if customs can prove otherwise the sh** will really hit the fan.

Does not matter if it was a real gift, once it exceeds 45 EUR you need to pay up.

I don't see how the customs can charge you for the other one. As far as they are concerned it hasn't arrived yet (or has been officially allowed in). Looks like you will only pay the VAT on the single item.
I certainly wouldn't risk annoying the customs for 20 or 30 euro.
