Issue with my Netgear Router

I got 2MG Broadband installed yesterday through QSat. Its plugged into the Netgear router and working fine. When I am next to the router with my netbook, its picking up the UPC signal but when I go elsewhere in the house I lose my connection.

    What could be causing this?

RF interference from other devices, thick walls, a neighbour on the same channel. You could download Inssider http://download.cnet.com/inSSIDer/3000-2085_4-10848357.html to check how many other networks are around and what channel they are operating on. You can then change yours to operate on a different channel, which is not adjacent to any existing ones.

I have a box upstairs that I use to transmit sky from 1 room to the other. Could this be the issue? I doesnt seem to affect the internet when I am next to the router though.

FSL is correct. Try changing the channel in your Router.

Also other devices nearby such as cordless phones, tv digisenders can interfere with the wirless signal. Try turning them off to see if your wireless signal improves.

It could if it uses wireless to transmit the signal.

When you are next to the router the signal will be stronger than the interference.
