    Hi,

I recently renovated a house and installed vents in the sitting room/bathrooms with fans. The problem i have is that i can feel strong breezes from the vents hence heating these rooms is not trouble some. I have installed the vents closers with flaps but they dont seem to block the back draughts. Has anyone any ideas? Is there any one way system in can install to lessen these draughts.

    Thanks

I'm also interested in this. Can I add another question please? When building my house I closed the walls at the wall plate with bricks, so the top of the wall, all round the house, is sealed. It did have the consequence of changing the pitch of the roof slightly, but there was no problem in that. I did the closure at the top of the wall because i don't see why it should have been opened, ventilation i'm sure cab still take place. I finished the house about 5 years ago and also filled the cavity it with pumped insulation, not the beads, but the blown in fluffy stuff, also did the attic with the same stuff and everything looks good and we're as snug as a bug in a rug. Have I done anything wrong?

Not trying to be funny, but the vents are supposed to be draughty!

One thing to find out is do the vents vent through the roof (through the attic to vent tiles) or do they vent through external walls? You could consider adding some sort of cowl to either to prevnet the external vents being exposed directly to the wind, which would cause the draughts, but also maintain the ventilation requirement.

Just Google baffled air vents, basically the tube has plates spaced inside so you get full air movement without the draught.

Does anyone have a link for baffled air vents for walls please - googling wasn't a great success. DIY shops don't seem to know about them and recommend cowls only. Thanks!
