help - i've lost my licences to play wmp files on my laptop

I knew my laptop was going to die so i backed everything up onto an external hard drive including my entire music library but either failed to transfer the protection license or later deleted it. Now i can't play any of the cd's i burned onto my laptop, i know i could just go and burn them all again but that would take ages cos there are 100's of them!

Does anyone know of a quick way around this??

I would be so grateful if someone knew a solution to this smile.gif

Use VLC to play them rather than Windows media player.

Thanks FSL, i tried that on two different computers. Frustratingly it opened the files and looked like it was playing but no sound  the same thing on both computers!

If you rip your own CDs, you can disable the protection for future rips.

There are free tools to remove the protection but they need to be able to play the music with the license first

You could try the steps in this, one of the steps recreates the license so it might work. You should continue through all the steps and remove the drm if you get them playing so you won't be stuck another time.
