sniffing glue,tipex thinner,

growing up when i did(mid 80's), it seemed to be in the "in" thing to inhale tipex thinner,not so much sniff glue.i never saw anyone do that but i was offered the tipex but never did it.
did any of you do it?what was it like?and if you sniffed glue what kind of feeling did it give?
maybe this doesnt deserve a thread to itself but im curious to know what it was like.
