Hey guys, has anyone ever done this? I need to go to Germany for at least 3 months if I wanna become a teacher, and I never fancied the Erasmus and I came across this in the German student handbook. It sounds perfect tbh but I would like to know other people's experience of it?

Funky's in Japan doing the Jet program maybe ask him?
Otherwise do Erasmus, you won't regret it!

    What's the jet program?

The JET program is a teaching exchange program to Japan.

I'm applying for it this year myself.

Ohh, that's interesting :) naw I'm looking to do it in Germany though, I'm just wondering about the process and the settling in and stuff :) I have no interest whatsoever in doing the erasmus though =/

Mind me asking why? Obviously you can refuse to answer!

Most people I know would jump at the chance!

I have never heard of the teaching assistant thing though!

Just don't fancy studying abroad, the cost, what I'd be leaving in Ireland for the year, teaching is what I love so to do it for a year while improving my fluency would be amazing :)

My friend is going over to France to work as a teaching assistant really soon! I think the department told them about interviews that were coming up for jobs like that, but I'll find out for definite for you :)

Edit: She did a TEFL course last summer, so maybe that would be something to look into to help getting a place as a teaching assistant.

Every department has an international co-ordinator so maybe see if you can find out who it is for German and email them.

Other than that, email Wendy Cameron in the International office, I'm sure she'll be able to help you out in some way or other.
