They are from Malaysia. I once had the pleasure of being stationed in a hotel opposite their HQ.

As to the quality of their product... I have no info either way.

Didn't clarkson not destroy one on tg a few years ago, but not before branding it a whitegood and the most soulless piece of junk ever made?

It was James May, they had to test and buy one under cover as the dealers wouldn't talk to them (wonder why? :D)

They trashed it after buying as it was practically worthless (relatively speaking) secondhand.

Followed one the other day, horrible little yoke being driven by a flat cap

A Perodua is a Car in the same way masturbation is a form of sex.

    It just doesn't compare....

    What makes you say that?

If you are calling the likes of a Perodua Myvi a terrible car then you may as well say whatever equivalent Daihatsu or Toyota produce is **** too.

I wouldn't like one but I wouldn't describe it as the worst car ever made.

It's reliable and performs a function

There's nothing wrong with them, in the same way that my LG vaccuum cleaner isn't made from high grade plastics or has a see through hoover bag, it's an appliance - it cleans my house, I didn't need to prove anything by buying a Dyson

They don't give any more trouble than the average car, the styling is a bit gammy alright, but for A to B motoring for feck all money, there's nothing wrong with it.
Exactly the same pros and cons as buying a Daihatsu to be honest.

Had a myvi to drive around for 3 weeks and 2500miles last year in kuala lumpur. Couldn't fault it...apprx 57mpg mixed driving. 1.3 cheap tax/insurance. Good car for new/young drivers. I'd have one over a clio/punto.
