You can buy the bulbs, but they're not cheap.

    Do you mean HIDs?

Better to replace in.pairs as colour and brightness can vary so much between suppliers, also if one bulbs gone, there isn't much left in the other one

You can get the bulbs on their own, but no harm in having spare ballasts if there isn't much difference in price

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but a bulb went in my Dads Alfa 166 before he sold it and a replacement was €480 for the bulb... absolutely insane!:(

I can't remember if the whole thing was replaced or just the bulb but I remember seeing the invoice and it was over 500 quid with VAT...

That would've technically made the car an uneconomical write off :-)

We had similar stories in saab, but you can easily find alternatives

Are these aftermarket, as opposed to factory fit HID?

I'm guessing they're for his Levin so they would be aftermarket if thats the case.

I bought a set of D2S bulbs via a Gumtree advert, EUR68 for the pair, 6k temp. Met the guy near Clarehall shopping centre. Nice to be able to just go out and buy these, though retarded that motorfactors want EUR173 per bulb and OEM 3x that.

You can pretty much get ever type of Xenon bulb for around this type, aftermarket or not.

Aftermarket HID's. The scourge of the commuter.

Mostly fitted to non DE type lamps and shamelessly displayed even during daylight hours.

Skangers, if you must fit them... please choose 4200K, at least they're white.

There are regulations regarding these units & self leveling etc, but I doubt our Gardai are 1) equipped, 2) bothered, to enforce.
