Claiming Tax Back on Fees

Hey Hope someone can help. Recently finished my Masters which was paid for by my Dad. Now its coming to claiming the fees back and i just spoke to the tax office and they're saying that although the Masters cost us 11,000, we'll only get about 1000 back as you can only claim on 5000 of the fees? This doesnt sound right to…

Hey
