Rifle protection in wet conditions.

Just wondering what regimes you guys have to protect your rifles from rust in wet conditions. I have a blued barrel and don't like getting it too wet as thorough cleaning and drying is hard work but necessary after a nights lamping.

Do you do anything before hand to give more protection when out? I suppose after a couple of hours in the wet, rust starts almost immediately!

I have a tub of VFG Lupus Grease I got from Intershoot.co.uk. I use it on all blued steel as the water just runs off, great waterproofing. I still store the rifles well and give them a wipe down after use and re-apply the protection, but it works.

1 do NOT touch the Rifle blueing when wet.
    2. use a thickish sticky lube, I have Remington spray oil with Teflon any all manner of stuff in it, I also have a can of Silicone spray.

Touching the steel lifts any oil and the salt from your hands helps with the corrosion process.
