If it's still open it's best avoided anyway, unless it vastly improved from when it first opened.

Isn't there a Sunday Car Boot sale somewhere near the Absolute Hotel?

Remember seeing signboards for it a while back.

That's quite normal with a lot of car boot sales, where they are either raising money for charity, operating as a business or trying to pay for renting the location/insurance etc.

Barrington’s Car Park Boot Sale, Limerick City
Indoor Car Boot Sale at the Multi Storey Car Park located opposite the Absolute Hotel in Limerick City near Jim Kemmy’s Bridge.

    Every Sunday from 9:00am – 2:00pm

There are approx. 50 pitches, all indoor, all cost €10. No booking sellers just turn up from 8am
There is a height restriction of 1.9m and NO trailers are allowed.
There is proper security on site. Tea/coffee/soup/hamburgers available.
    There are toilets on site.
You will need to supply your own tables etc. sockets to show electrical stuff works. You do not need a trading licence.
It’s a safe, secure and dry place with a great friendly atmosphere and plenty of help and advice for those who are new to the Boot sale idea. All welcome including charities which are 1/2 price.

The sale organiser provides tea/coffee and sellers get one free. She also runs a raffle every week for the sellers with the winner getting their pitch free.

Normal or not I think it's a bit rich this day and age that the customer is charged to enter the premises.

You still don't get it - boot sales are, by and large, to raise funds - you're not going to make much charging a couple of dozen sellers €10-15 per head.
