LOVE my UA LA-610

I recently got an LA-610.
Not as fast as my APIs or as clean/clear as my isa828 but it stacks really well.
The compressor is fantastic (and fool proof). The EQ is pretty subtle but great for adding punch and air.
I find that tracks recorded with it need very little in the mix.
Here is a grunge track recorded this weekend using the LA-610 for drum room mic with compressor in limiter mode smashing 20db, then used for all overdubs with varying amounts of EQ/compression and preamp drive. The mix came together in no time. There is a bit of Waves CLA76 on the drum shell mics but no other compressor plugins in the mix. I am also using Sominus Satson on all channels and busses. Great plugin, similar to Slate's VCC. I tried both and actually preferred Satson. http://dsp.sonimus.com/products/satson/

You can pick these up for about €1k used and that's a bargain. Mine is a mark 1 model. I can't see it replacing the API A2D when it comes to fast aggressive music (which I do a lot of) but for stuff that needs glue it is perfect.

I picked up one of these about 3 months ago. Really, really nice unit. I certainly gives that 'expensive' sound that I like.

Here's another LA-610 recording. Drum room then all overdubs. Vocal is heavily compressed on the way in. The compressor adds fullness that plugins just can't get close to. Bass DI is driving the pre pretty hard and had about 20db of compression too.
