    Hi,
My daughter was thinking of buying this for college.

    http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/5083400.htm

My unprofessional opinion is that it appears to have a lot, (particulary the price as it is just over her budget. The only thing I can see could be a problem is that it does not appear to be wi-fi enabled, and I persume that if she wants to use it in college that her laptop should be wi-fi enabled. Any suggestions folks. Need to get one this week and am not great at knowing what to look out for when buying a laptop. (bought an emachine recently for my self in tesco's, but unfortunately this offer is no longer available)

    Any advice folks, please

Every laptop you can buy is WiFi enabled. A lot of companies don't even mention it in their catalogues any more because it is a given these days!

What is this laptop going to be used for? Will your daughter be bringing this machine into college most days? If so I would recommend you get something smaller/lighter. Carrying that thing around will turn into a major pain in the ass after a very short amount of time.

There should be plenty of small 11/13" machines around that kind of budget with great battery life, while still being light enough to carry.

Thanks for the feedback Alanstrainor. Never worried about the wi-fi untill I noticed it wasn't mentioned on the spec's for this one.

She will mainly be using it for typing mainly (says me showing his naivety) as she is studing a language and drama, but i imagine it will mainly be browsing the internet and watching dvd's etc.
I don't think the weight will be too much an issue as her last laptop was a 17 inch screen and she carted that around quite a lot.
Her other option was this one.
Could I ask you what you think of this one please and what in your opinion would be the better choice
