as everybody already knows i have this gun [Embedded Image Removed] and am hitting the 20,000 bb mark theres nothing wrong with the gun but so far i done nothing to the gun internally i just cleaned the outside of the gun (free of muck after a great game at oakridge)and wiped down the barrel

i dont really feel like opening it anymore im off the idea . but should i service it and bring it to mia and if so how much would that cost , theres no problem with it but how many times a year do you service youre gun and how would you greese the blowback .

If your gonna hit the 20,000 mark, you should probably get it checked. The inner barrel might be all scratched due to pellets, but taken off the hop-up and putting it on a new, better inner barrel isn't a hard job. As or the gearbox, yes, some parts will be worn, but I would leave it until it eventually stops and get a new one.

I also told you before that Main Irish Airsoft took off some rubber around the wire connectors on my A.P.S. ASR103, if your asking them to look at the interiors, and they have to cut a bit of the rubber, you should tell them not to put more around the wire connectors as I had to cut mine.

If your happy with range and rof why bother?
    If it ain't broke....etc!

There's two main schools of thought when it comes to Airsoft maintenance:
    - If it ain't broke, don't fix it (as noted by SOCOM), and
    - Prevention is better than a cure

Both have their merits. I would use the latter on my GBB pistols, as parts are harder to come by, and they're very basic to maintain; each one takes approximately 5 minutes work. Now, I own a lot of pistols, so instead of maintaining them all (would take me too long), I "service" them before I use them. They get completely stripped down, cleaned, regreased and oiled, reassembled, cleaned again, and then fired. This stops unduly wear and tear, and keeps me happy as I don't have to trawl the internet for hard-to-find parts...because you know if it's going to break, it's going to be the most impossible to find, infinitesimal little part.

On the other hand, with the likes of M4s, or indeed any Version II or Version III gearbox, I wouldn't really bother. Parts are too cheap, and too easy to come by to warrant constant opening up. If I notice any performance drop, or feel that things just aren't right, sure I'll have a look. But I won't needlessy open 'em up just to be sure, for the reasons above. Any unusual guns using unique gearboxes, such as the F2000, well...the gearbox is so easy to remove, that it's sort of worth it in its own right. Although a version VI gearbox, it uses some unique and hard to find parts (as Leftyflip found out searching for a tappet plate).

    *facepalm*
if he regularly uses the pull through rod on the barrel, with a little silicone spray, the barrel should be fine. I've seen perfect barrels after 100,000s of rounds. 20,000 is about 10 skirmishes to the average player, thats really no huge figure. Granted, to some it is, but it depends.

The hopup is probably fine, dont scare the poor guy. If his range and accuracy is same as, leave it alone. Just give it a spray of silicone oil in the magwell, down the barrel (and use the pull through rod with a little of the sythetic (not paper) kitchen roll. It should be grand.

As for the connectors, thats the heat shrink over the spade connectors for the wiring loom. yes, it helps, but you can do it yourself if you want to take it down, if not, dont bother, its fine as it is. The more rubber on there, the better, it stops the connectors earthing to the reciver (as they tend to sit just out of it)

Your gun is probably fine, if you still like the performance, give it a spray as I mention above, and clean your barrel now and then (NOT after each skirmish) An airsoft gun will last way longer than 20,000 rounds... But its certainly a point to give it some tlc at, ie, clean things which you can do.

As for hte blowback... it really doesn't need greasing, but if you want to, just spray a little silicone spray inside the bolt cover, around the plate, and it should be fine.
I'm a strong supporter, of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'
