hi lads and lassies , my first post on here but ive been on boards a while and i always keep an eye on this section , anyway we are in a bit of a dilema with our 3511 , we bought her a while back as a resto project and like a lot of them around ireland she was in a sorry state , we tried starting her after getting her home but the pistons must have been full of water because when she fired she went bang and bent a con rod and broke a hole in the piston , we have her stripped now but the piston liner is siezed solid and we cant shift it !!!!! any suggestions guys ???? the other two piston and liners seem to be fine but the offending one has a nice lump gone out of it from the con rod hitting it , also where is the best place to get a replacemant piston , liner and con rod , second hand would do if anyone had one broke , i believe the pistons are the same bore up through the 11 range !! thanks lads .:)

If they are wet liners you could weld a bar across and drive the liner out.

If it is a dry liner you really can't do this. I have seen people weld a ring around the liner. The idea is that as the weld cools it contracts and causes the liner to 'shrink' leaving it easier to extract.

You could take the engine out and bring it to Willie Fullerton. He would machine out the liner and would more than likely be able to supply the replacement parts

thanks john , a couple of great suggestions there , i think fullerton might be the man , save all the shuffling , the ould fella tried welding the bar and driving it out but no luck .:)

i have it in my head for some reason that some zetor engine liners are taken out from the top of the engine and others from the bottom.

and I cant for the life of me think where i heard it, sorry
