Singer/Pianist in Galway City looking to join/form swing type ensemble!

Hello, I'm new to this band stuff so apologies if I seem amateurish! I am a capable singer and pianist, and am looking to join or form a swing or jazz type band but with a modern edge: something along the lines of Squirrel Nut Zippers, Royal Crown Revue or Big Bad Voodoo Daddy for fun at first, but with the ultimate goal of performing around town.

Other influences include Cab Calloway, Marlene Dietrich, The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo, and Weill/Brecht - in other words, something jazzy and theatrical but without that lounge-y Frank Sinatra type swing that seems to be everywhere these days, I'm thinking something a bit more seedy. Maybe a bit of rockabilly thrown in too! It would be a cover band, but I am definitely open to the suggestion of working in original tracks somewhere down the line.

Any number of instruments could be made work in such an ensemble: what I'm really looking for is someone who is interested in the actual concept of the band. I am also open to suggestion for similar ideas, as long as they are somewhat related!

I am 27 years old, but age isn't an issue :) I've posted a couple of vids below to give an idea of influences. Thanks for listening

I like the sound of this!

I'm a guitar player in Galway. I'm getting more and into jazzy/swing kind of stuff. Not into that Sinatra-y whitewashed stuff, I like it raw, dirty and jumpin!

I'm into to jump blues, rock'n'roll, rockabilly, soul, funk, R'n'B and all that good stuff. I like your influences.

Would this be an upbeat, dancing kind of thing? Also I'm curious, are you male or female!?

Hi Bootsy, thanks for the reply! Last time I checked I seemed to be mostly female.

I was thinking a mix of upbeat and maybe a few slower/darker tracks (like some Marlene Dietrich or something). It's all just ideas at the moment though, I'm definitely open to suggestion!
