Right, time for a new colour!

The only 'gingery' colours i can see are Feria permanant in mango copper and a similar one in Superdrug own brand.. my hair is currently between a dishwatery/light brown colour. Debating whether I should put a Colour B4 stripper in it first

    This colour, ideally:

Plus just discovered Sarah Harding has the colour:

    Any tips, recommendations?

Ah I'm trying to do this myself! I was in Boots, Superdrug and Hickey's Phatmacy yesterday and they just didn't have anything close to what I wanted. I wanted a Semi-Perm colour, but there wasn't even much in the Permanent section either.

This picture of Christina Hendricks in The Guardian has made me lusting for the colour!

Really can't afford to go to a hairdressers!

Twee, her colour is excatly the colour I want as well (along with the face and figure, but sure I'll make to with the hair for now!

That's the ONLY one I can find near it, and it's permanant

Can't find a picture of the Superdrug one but I have used their colours in the past which poor effect, so I am reluctant...

    Anybody ?

When I dyed my hair bright red and stopped topping it up it faded to a ginge colour. You could always do that dunno if it's ideal though. I can show a pic if you want.

If you have the money I would suggest going to a hairdressers, had my hair stripped from burgundy to exactly that colour in January and they did a fantastic job, only had to go back every 2 1/2 months for touch ups until I went back brown.
Word of warning would be to stay away from Nice N Easy dyes, they do a lovely reddy-copper colour which I bought to try. Didn't even have it on my whole head when my scalp started burning and I nearly passed out.

I've gone ginger once or twice, and I always used Loreal Feria. I was very happy with the colour, but I found it didn't last. The colour would fade within three washes, and, within two weeks, it would be a different colour altogether. (I'm blonde, so I ended up with blonde hair with ginger hints.)

I'd say your best bet is to go to a hairdressers - even as a model. There are loads of places that will do it for at least half the usual price if you go in with a trainee hairdresser. And, the trainees tend to be very good. They don't get to work on a person's hair until they've undergone a good bit of training, and they're super-careful.

For a vivid colour like you're looking for, it's hard to maintain with a home-dye kit.

That's not even her natural colour, so there is hope!

I think I'm gonna just have to save for hairdressers, birthday is in October so that might help :p I did go close to the colour before in a hairdressers, but they really talked me out of going so bright :( I had a magazine with Karen Elson (below) in it, and they were like "woooah I think it's a big step". This time I won't budge on it!!

I've been looking for that Feria colour for quite a while, I can't seem to find it anywhere. I'm stuck using the nice and easy auburn which I don't really like.

I'm thinking about buying the professional dyes from ebay again, much more choice!!

I used to colour my hair with this for years and I turned out just a tiny but darker than the model on th ebox. I have naturally dark hair, almost black, so if I can do it anyone can!! It will take a few colours to build it up though, you won't achieve that exact shade the first time, although if you have naturally fair hair it might take better on your hair than it ever did on mine. You will get fading with any red dye, just invest in a really good shampoo for coloured hair and every few weeks use a wash out red to give a pop of colour.

I miss my red hair, the only reason I stopped colouring it was that I had too many greys coming through and red doesn't take well to them:( Am going fairer and fairer now!

Can't really afford a hairdressers appointment, so might try the Feria; they stock it quite a bit over here in the UK but it's the only one that looks remotely like what I want :)

In my experience it's very difficult to get semi-permanent auburn hair dye. I don't know if it's because the colour can only be achieved effectively using permanent products (a bit like blonde).

I think this colour looks nice. http://www.clairol.co.uk/perfect10/nice-easy-hair-colour-shades/Light-Auburn-6r

But I haven't tried it and it is permanent.

the link is 6R. I was thinking of going for 5R myself, but I'm not sure which.

I've done this one a few times:
    http://www.clairol.co.uk/niceneasy-foam/see-the-shades/
But with poor effect sadly. Was lovely for the first day or so but washed out so so quick. Plus it was foam and I didn't like it!

I'm doing this as well but my natural colour is ginger and I'm letting it grow now so trying to dye my blonde the same colour.

I don't think it's gonna be possible out of a bottle.

I had a look back at some photos when I did the Colour B4 thing..my hair caem out ginger after the dose...I'm thinking if I did a Colour B4, left it a few days, and then stuck that Feria in it?? Sound like a reasonable idea?

Is it mad to just leave the end result of Colour B4 , without adding the 'ash blonde' shade that is suggested? After about three days the orange tinge died down and it settled nice-ish...

Go for that then. If it turns out horrible you can always then try the Feria.

Cool, I wasn't sure if it was 'recommended'... I will wait till I ahev a few days off before doing it, don't want to risk being super-ginger coming to work..

I have natural reddy auburn hair. 3 years ago I got a few sets of blonde highlights until I was almost totally blonde. I used Clairol Nice and Easy in some auburn shades to get back to my original colour. I believe I used something like this:

They seem to have changed the shade names since then but I'm sure there is something similar.

How difficult would it be to go from a mid-brown colour to this?

    emma-stone-210x300.jpg

I'd be getting it done in the hairdressers because I don't trust myself! :p

I was ginger for about 2,3 years because i put henna over my naturally brown hair and it turned it ginger, red and put the lightest blonde over it .. haha that's all i can suggest, or the hairdressers..

    Hi,

i would recommend going to a suppliers to get your colour, there are a few that dont require you to be a quilified stylist. however the prices are higher but the quality is there and it is definitly worth it.

So have a look at the shade charts, choose your colour, do a skin test (in case of a reaction) and dont forget to ask the staff for advice.

    Hope this helps :D

I haven't dyed it yet Stenchblossoms...I'm heading home in a few weeks so gonna wait unti a few days before I go so that the colour looks fresh, as I can't be dying it every few weeks!! Kinda frustrated there is no semi perm in that feria colour, so it's gonna have to be permanant, exactly what Colour B4 doesn't recommend, and what i have spend the year avoiding! Will post pics when i do.
