I tend to try and distract myself by listening to music, watching tv and going to the gym.

masturbation does the trick, for a little while at least.. and then you can just rise and repeat

Get out and keep training the young dog. Though the scuttery brown unpleasant present he left in the car earlier didn't much help my stress or anxiety I have to say :D Pups will be pups.

    I train mostly every night.

Either Judo, BJJ or MMA.. I also take regular walks with the dogs, I live near Portmarnock beach (which is a gift).

I also swim in the sea, both winter & summer - good for the soul.

And I never, ever suffer fools.

Benzodiazepines, Barbiturates, SSRIs, alcohol, antipsychotics, opioid narcotics.

    or

    Exercise, vegan diet, sex, sleep.

Really depends on the time of year.

There's not really much for me to get stressed out about and I plan on keeping it that way.

Should the day come I begin to get stressed you'll hear the first shot from the bell tower.

A mix of meditation, sex, excercise and charity work all do it for me when it comes to stress, anxiety or even anger management.

The first helps one focus, the second helps one relax and promotes the release of happy hormones, the third burns off most of the issues and the last makes you realise that most of the things you have been letting get to you are not all that important in the greater scheme of things anyway.

I've never done the stress thing, not sure why people let things get to them as stressing will do absolutely nothing except, in more serious situations, get you sick. As the saying goes, "what will be, will be" and no amount of stressing can change it. Just deal with the situation and move on.

Well yesterday during the Celtic & Liverpool games I got rid of some stress by fooking a spoon against the wall, only had a short term effect so had a hand shandy a little while after!

I find playing football to be a great way to release any stress or anxiety, for an hour or so your mind is clear of any worries!

Honestly, not well. I can become a bit reclusive, because I can be too mentally / physically exhausted to even want to talk about what is wrong. Problems seem to continuously hit me at times, so it's a difficult loop to get out of. I like to curl up with some wine and watch something that makes me laugh, and try to forget everything else going on around me.

I never, ever talk about it, I have this thing where my head tells me, "Sure who wants to hear any of your problems, you're not that important ffs!" so I end up keeping it all in and trying to sort it out myself! Only rarely, when drunk, have I left my guard down and confided in someone!

When I get home after a hard day at work - nothing better than chilling out and playing with my 20 month old daughter.....that and PS3

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,208 ✭✭✭coco_lola

Bottle it all up, pretend it's not happening, drink alot, and then eventually go crazy, take off all my clothes and shout incessantly on the street. Seems healthy to me.

It can go one of two ways - I will either become completely overwhelmed and stay in bed to avoid whatever is stressing me out or, if I'm doing better, I'll call a friend and go on and on about it and by the time I'm finished talking, I'll realise it isn't even that important anyway.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 429 ✭✭johnners2981

Don't think about it, avoid the problem and hope it will fix itself. Maybe its not the best way to deal with it....

yeah thought this too, but nah it's really only temporary.

If i just get stressed about something like work then I usually have it pass by the next day, after I've gotten away from the source. If i'm anxious about something going to happen I try not to think about it, until it happens, once i've settled in my mind that I know how to deal with it when it does.

but the real problem is when it turns ugly. then i don't. I stay in bed, or stay in my room, try avoid talking to people, make most people believe I'm fine. do what i can not to have to do anything but sit by myself. just wouldn't have the energy to deal with people.

Depending on what it is I might just shut myself away for a few days and mull over it to find that it's not as bad or worth worrying about as I thought .

I might do something physical around like a little diy job ,or get get stuck into a book or two , for the distraction as much as the enjoyment and chilling out listening to ( singing along ) fav music .

I used to find football was a great stress buster but tend to watch it more now than play it but I can take myself off on long walks to some part of the city or countryside on a whim ...just to loose myself for a few hrs .

Sex ,good food ,music , exercise and laughter ( at the sometimes stupidity of modern life ) with it's added stress, are essential to keep on top of it all .
