    Hi,

I'm thinking about buying the above DAC and I'm wondering would it be suitable for my current set up/make a significant sound improvement?:

Arcam 8R Amp, Arcam 7SE CD player, B&W 601 Series 2 speakers and Apple Airport Express.

I have an extensive music library on iTunes which I want to stream wirelessly and am currently doing so from the PC to the Airport express (wirelessly) and then into the Arcam 8R amp.

    Thanks...

    Hey,

I'm after reading the spec of the D to A Converter you mentioned and it's talking rubbish. The idea that it can up-sample from 16-44.1 (red book) to 24/192 is impossible, you can't magically make sound that's not there... it's the same with mp3's and WAV's, you don't loose 10mb of data without loosing quality.
I think you would be able to find better solutions out there, I probably would have said it would be a good solution if you could turn off the up-sampling but it's standard to all music played on this device I think.

Having read a good few reviews on AV Forums, the overall impression is that the DAC Magic does a very good job of improving the sound of a system. Having done a search on Boards.ie there was mention of it on the Richersounds.ie forum with positive comments towards it posted.
