Anyone staying up to watch this? Should be a bruising encounter and effectively the decider for the second place spot in this pool. Predictions?
Irish interest should be high in this game as provided we win our final two pool games we will be playing the winner of this game in the knockout stages.

    I say 24 - 15 to Wales.

Also for those of you who are on eircom broadband you can stream the game from here:
    http://eircomsports.eircom.net/Setanta/

You need either Firefox or IE. Wont work on Chrome/Safari and if it doesnt work at all just install the windows media player 11 plugin when prompted.

Should be an interesting game. Potential quarter final opponents for Ireland - all going to plan. Very impressed with Wales last week, North looks like he's going to have a big career.

Samoa deserved that try. Constant pounding of the line and good Welsh defense, but brilliant ball retention by Samoa payed off. They have been the better team this half.

    Good try.

Looking at the pace this game is being played at and the intensity both sides are bringing to the game... im worried about the prospect of facing either.

Shane Williams scores a try, can't say they deserve it.

just watched the mayweather fight .this match would have to be epic to top it

Wales win in the end 17-10. Samoa just couldn't turn their countless pounding of the line into points and their kicking hurt them too. Hopefully Fiji can beat Wales now, like in 2007.

Full time score 17 - 10 to wales

Phew. That's a relief. Am worried abt Hook's injury tho'. Georgia (though losing) are impressing me!

If Ireland play like they did yesterday Wales should be beaten. But that's a big if.

am watching this on TG4 atm - Samoans beat the Welsh up - Wales were lucky to win this one and didnt play well.

Good. Lets hope the islanders take a lot of energy out of the Welsh. I'm glad they have Fiji as their final game and not Namibia.

I think Wales will be tough opposition in the quarters. We should be able to beat them, but they'll be very tough to crack.

I had the Samoa/Wales double, Samoa to be leading by less than 7 at half time, and Wales to be leading by less than 12 at full time.

    Nice one.

Rhys Priestland at 10 a weak link - cant place kick and never looks the most confident 10 in distribution and getting his back line going - not a line breaker either - Sexton and ROG will be too much for him

Priestland has come on hugely. He is a very good runner of the ball. He makes decent ground especially when in the open spaces when selected at 15. Big bloke, very strong attacking the line and luckily for Wales, he's not their goal kicker either. Solid defender in the 10 channel too.

Anyone else think Wales could beat us in the quarters. ???

Would love to hammer them (i bet the look on gatland face would be brillent).

What a way to the final for Ireland, beat Wales in the quarters and possibly beat England or France in the semis. (if carlsberg did Rugby world cups this would be in it)

Warren Gatland will make some stupid comment in the build up to it as usual and suddenly it will mean so much more.

    Big win for Wales.

Samoa are a bit of a World Cup bogey team for them, kind of like ourselves and Argentina.

2nd place not decided yet but Wales would have to be expected to get it as they have Namibia to come which is surely a 5-pointer for them.

Will come down to their last game against Fiji, very tough pool in fairness.

Very good win for Wales, Samoa are a big physical team and many had predicted them to upset Wales. I think Wales are vastly improving and we will likely play them in quarters (all according to form, of course). I think they'll beat Fiji handy, the latter are not a patch on what they were 4 years ago, conceding 25 points to Namibia tells it's own tale. Many seem to think we will make at least a WC semi at this stage, but Wales will be no pushover and it'll be a very close game I reckon if we play them.

    He already has.

[Sorry, can't find the link just now] but I read this morning that he said that Ireland winning meant losing against SA worked out for them because they'd play Ireland in Quarters and Eng or France in the semis.

seems innocuous enough, but it was the way he phrased it. "will have Eng or france in the semifinal" like the quarter was won already.

I was a little worried about facing Wales as favourites, but we can always rely on Warren for a bit of extra motivation.

Fiji managed a draw last year vs. Wales. Don't write Fiji off.
