I looked at flights between Dublin and Athens. and so far it looks like either Swiss airlines or Lufthansa - both pricy. Any other options?

    Define "cheap".

A couple of hundred euro. Lufthansa works out at somewhere around €900 which is over the top for me.

Aer Lingus fly there, although probably not at all times of the year. When are you thinking of going?

If it's out of the Aer Lingus schedule, then your cheapest option is to go Ryanair to London and Easyjet it from either Luton or Gatwick.

If you're booking well in advance, try Olympic via Milan.

I have checked a few sites. The flight times vary from 10 to 18 hours depending on the number of stopovers. It is easier for me to go back to Italy drive to Ancona and get the ferry across.

Try Malev.com. They are usually the best bet at this time of the year. There is a stop over involved but its usually short. Should work out considerably cheaper too. HTH
