I just reinstalled windows, I have tow hard drives, C for windows etc, and D for all my personal files

Now when I have reinstalled - they have swapped around - Windows is installed on D: and all my files are on the C drive. Weird!

Anyone know how I can change this?
    Thanks

if you're using windows 7, right click on My Computer, select Manage, it opens a new window called computer management. Click on Storage-Disk management. right click on the drive you want and select Change drive letter

If it's XP, open it using the Control panel

    Thanks, I'm on xp.

I tried doing the mange thing from my computer - I tried to change the drive letter or either of them but it give me an error saying: "Windows cannot modify the driver letter of your system volume or boot volume"

    Any ideas?

Its very difficult to change OS working volume or drive letter.
It needs to be done at installation. you can reinstall and assign the drive letter during the installation.

Have to two hard drive are is it two partitions on a single drive ?

I tried the link above but I think I made a balls of it cause I could not get past the windows logon screen. Pain in the arse but I had to reinstall. I have two hard drives, lesson learn is to disconnect the other one leaving on the C drive i want to install on - and make sure no problems arise that way!

My guess is that Windows installed on drive D: or the second drive due to being unable to install over the previous copy of Windows, if you cant get the machine to boot, try a repair install but tbh if feasible get a Ubuntu live disc or similar, backup all the files and start from scratch :)
