Colm Murray is a legend. A gentleman i'd say. God i love his voice. It brings back so many memories from when i was a kid watching the racing with family members.

I hope he keeps up his brave fight for a long time to come.

He has Motor Neurone Disease and is now in a wheelchair. For several months he delivered his racing reports on camera from behind a desk in the sports department when we would have expected him to be in front of the stand in Leopardstown or Galway. Clearly in that report he was talking at a slower rate than we were used to which is a sad indication that even his voice is now affected.

that could be a side effect of the drugs?

No. That's what Motor Neurone Disease does, all physical functions loose their accuracy and eventually power.

I thought it was a heartwarming documentary about Colm Murray. He is without a doubt one of my favourite RTE reporters that I have ever listened to. It is tragic to know that MND is going to give him a shorter life than expected.

He is still working in the RTE Newsroom BTW which is a good sign to hear, although he is not able to do broadcasts anymore, it is a surprise that he had his last broadcast in October 2011, which was sometime before Anne Doyle left broadcasting.

May I send you good wishes in your battle Colm.
