I notice a growth in threads with people looking for links or options on how to watch the upcoming matches.

In Ireland
Go to the games
On any TV
Via tv3.ie (for the minor) and rte.ie (for the senior)

Rest of the World
In the UK I believe Premier Sports will be showing the game.
Irish Bars everywhere should have the game.
Via the websites above but you will need to use an Irish Proxy Server. By the looks of a google search I just ran you can get a monthly subscription that should cover both games.
Known sites for watching sporting events, such as justin.tv

Vietnam? heh I'd say you may have better luck watching online as I doubt there would be any pubs streaming that match.

There's a place called Jaspa's in Hanoi Tower (can't remember any other address details but the taxi drivers seemed to know it) that streams a lot of matches, we saw the Heineken Cup and Magners' League there. It's probably your best bet, the manager is English as far as I remember, think his name's Jason. Probably best to arrive early and ask him about it.

im in canada at the moment and not exactly in a large city, so finiding a place to watch the matches is hard/unlikely but its actually impossible.
have tried to watch it on rte live a few times but with no luck, the radio broadcast works alright, but as im not in ireland the tv coverage does not play.

are there any ways around this, if so, how?
other than that, where else could i watch the games on line?

How does RTE benefit by not streaming the games outside Ireland?

The GAA have sold international rights to Setanta I think, which is what covers the streaming outside the IoI, nothing to do with RTÉ afaik

proxys/ vpns may work BUT one which i use didnt work for the rugby last weekend and RTE are way more proactive than the brits in trying to stop proxys bypassing their restrictions.

Probably right as Setanta would be well pissed to see their 30 dolla per view go down the drain and could possibly sue.

In comparison, in Germany Sport 1 are doing pay per view streaming of the Rugby world cup for 3 euro a pop per live games, and 34 euro for all games including replay of every game available till christmas!
In comparison to what setanta is offering its chalk and cheese!

Has anyone a clue what they are paying for the rights to the GAA?
I dont remember seeing it published.

I'd just like to appeal to people who will be watching on streams to share good streams they find here - I'm going on holiday tomorrow and there's zero chance I'm going to miss the two finals on Sunday but I'd prefer not to have to pay the $29.99 PPV price Setanta are attempting to charge - as there's plenty of people here that want to see the All-Ireland and it'll be easier for everyone if we make an effort to share information.

It's strange IMO the gaa still rely on the ppv TV model to deliver their games abroad. It's a wonder they don't build a system of delivering games online say pay for a season ticket or a fiver a game. I'm sure people would pay if it was reliable and available for play when it suited you. The model of selling it tru pubs in north London and east coast USA is outdated

2. Download Proxy Switch for Google Chrome

3. Go into the options menu on proxy switch, enter an ip adress for an irish proxy server. For example one of these or these into the HTTP Proxy field under manual configuration, then click "Save"

4. Choose the new profile by pressing the proxy switch button beside the address bar. Some proxies may not work, if so just try a different one until you find one that works.

5. Enjoy the match while watchin it live on RTE.ie

There's loads of other ways to use a proxy server too, but I found that this was the easiest way

Hi all,

Ive just moved to France and I would love to watch the final tomorrow. Cant make it to pub as Ive to watch the kids. Anyone know a way of streaming the game live .... maybe getting access to the RTE live player ?

Would greatly appreciate any help here

The setanta thing is a joke, I work in an Irish pub in NYC, and its not even worth it for them if they go through premium cause they have to charge $20 and the pub doesnt even get a cut off it and generally Irish people come in buy some thing like a coke cause they've already forked out 20 bills and generally don't tip the waitress's so its a lose - lose situation! In saying that, some places will stream it illegally but they have to keep it on the hush so chances are if you rang a pub to ask if they're showing the game, they may well tell you they're not but they'll have it on and through word of mouth/regulars/friends of staff they might get a decent crowd in to watch it, this seems to be case in some places here anyway, I've noticed very few Irish bars have advertised that they will be showing the game apart from ones in irish neighbourhoods like Woodlawn in the Bronx where they can't really get away with showing it on the sly. .... ps up the dubs wooot

What's really galling to some abroad is that you can actually play for a County (London, New York etc) in the various GAA Championships, but you cannot reliably see the later stages of the same competitions without a Setanta subscription or having to give custom to an Irish pub. Thank you to all who have given links/ methods.

For those stuck...this might work...

Get a someone to install a desktop sharing tool on their PC in Ireland ( http://www.mikogo.com/ ).

Basically this allows you to view their PC.

Get them to create an account / session on said PC.

Get them to launch the match on RTE.IE

Get them to send you details of the Mikogo session.

View the match.

Never tried this, but in theory it should work.

It's moronic isn't it. They could easily do a package like that on the gaa website or through rte player. The setanta thing makes no sense. Outside of Australia, NZ, USA or UK any other Irish abroad are fairly up the creek if they want to see a game. Does my head in

Using the links already provided to get an proxy ip address and take note of it
Using Firefox
goto add ons
select elite proxy switcher (I think this is the name, ironically it is in Irish..) Install it, easy, reload firefox.
Then in the elite preferences enter the ip address received from the link enter 80 as the port and goto the rte website and watch it live.
it worked for me and I am in Auckland following the boys in green...COME ON THE DUBS
