    Hi,
Has anyone ever experienced a seller putting an extra charge on after the bid has ended? This just happened to me today.
The original payment details said "Bank Transfer", which I didn't see when making the bid. I'm just used to Paypal being the default option.
Now it seems I can pay with Paypal, but there's an unexplained 5 Euro charge added.
This does not seem right to me!
I have sent them a message asking why there is an extra charge, and stated that I do not agree with it as there should not be any extra charges.

    Any advice please??

I would guess that the extra charge is for the PayPal fee's the seller will incur if you pay via PayPal.

The seller may have preferred the bank transfer option as there may not have been any fee's if you paid that way.

You should always check the payment methods for any auction etc before buying the item, as you've learned, while you use PayPal as the default payment method, not everyone does.

The seller had their payment method(s) on the auction/payment page, it is up to you to check those before buying/bidding on anything.

    Thanks for the reply Bobbin.
The seller actually got back to me and removed the 5 Euro charge, so all's well!
I'll have to pay more attention to the small print in future!! ;)

you should also note that with bank transfer or any other means of payment apart from paypal there is no buyer protection.

I thought all ebay auctions must accept Paypal as a form of payment, didn't that change couple of years ago?

They probably added the extra €5 on a chance you will pay without asking about it.
