World of Warcraft. Are all expansions necessary?

    So, I'm interested in starting to play world of Warcraft again.

    To see all players, do I need to get all the expansion packs?

    For example, I have The Burning Crusade. Will I not be able to play or see the people who are playing Wrath of the Lich King?

    It's something that doesn't seem clear.

    You will be able to see everybody, you just wouldnt be able to go to northrend (wotlk) and im not sure about the new azeroth (cata expansion), i predict you just wont be able to access the new azeroth zones like mount hyjal/twilight highlands etc..

    If you want to reach max level 85 you will need all expansions.

    Thanks, so I assume that the quests related to those expansions would not be available either.

    What's the cheapest place for WoW subscriptions?

    Just upgrade directly from the WoW website itself and you can Download the game from there.
