Hi all, I'm trying to learn a bit more about DVT's causes, treatment, symptoms, prognosis etc. Can anyone recommend any website that would be useful? Thanks in advance.

Medscape is a pretty decent & trusted reference source for that kind of thing, assuming you've got basic bio / medical background knowledge:

Bear in mind it is a US site so some of the treatments or drugs (in particular) may not be entirely applicable to Irish practice.

Cheers thanks for the link SomeDose, I was able to understand that. However, could some one explain what postthrombotic syndrome is?

    The Merck manuals are good.
There's a layman version and (if you want) a professional version.

Medscape might be heavy going for non-doctors.

    Hey!

I found this and had a read through it - its medically accurate patient information and is nice and detailed (which you are probably looking for).

Remember this is an american publication so treatment in ireland does vary slightly but good for general information.

If you want to hear from other people how they handled it - you could start a thread on Long Term Illness.
