Meteor Broadband to Go - How to check usage when using 3G router

I am trying out a meteor 3G dongle.
I have it connected to a 3G router.
I want to get a monthly subscription but will not get one until I can check my usage, as I worked in a mobile broadband company before and the aim is to have people go over their cap.

On the meteor website it says to go to your mobile manager software to check your usage, but this is useless information when I am using a 3G router as it bypasses this software.

Does anybody know if there is a way to check your monthly usage on the web.
Its a choice between Meteor and Vodafone for me because I cant get a signal where I want to use it from anywhere else. Vodafone have a smaller cap, but at least you can see how much data you are using.

That meteor mobile manager software is not accurate either, so i wouldnt advise anybody count on it.

So funny - this annoys the crap out of me too. I resort to just yanking the modem out every now and then and slap it in to the PC.
There's a tab to press on then that sends a text to check your data balance.
    It's a regular pain though.

Yeah that check balance button doesnt work anymore. It used to.
Not worth the risk. Probably get a few hundred euro bill for the sake of checking the usage. I think ill go with Vodafone when I go bill pay.

I called them last week and the person didn't know.
You need to know WHAT METEOR THINK YOU USED because their usage can be gigabytes higher than usage you think you used.
Bills of hundreds of euro are common.

Does anybody with meteor pre pay know how to check you usage properly when using a router?

Surely it has to be possible. I know it is with pre-pay.
It should be illegal anyway to let you keep running up a bill when you don't know you are doing it. The regulator should make it compulsory for them to cut you off unless you phone them first when you go over your cap

An email to Comreg might be in order. If Meteor are going to enforce a cap, and charge you for going over it, then they surely should provide a way to check the usage. This should be an official method, as provided by Meteor, and not a software check at the user's end.

Meteor must be the only operator that doesn't provide usage stats to customers then.

Might as well write to your granny instead of Comreg.
Comreg are useless. Ive sent loads of emails to them about mobile BB companies charging for over cap usage without warning you when you go over the cap. First thing you know about it is a bill for €100+ in the door.
    Thats totally bogus.

    Hi,
I found this topic on a google search so im replying with recent info since I have the same problem.
For prepay at least (me), after loging in the main site you can click Account -> My usage to see a 20 line table with what looks like some paginated semi-raw result of a sql query; it shows your monthly usage in chunks sized ~20000kb to 5kb average. So you can imagine how many next pages you have to click so in the end you can add all the chunks until the initial pass activation date. Even this information is in accordance to:
(...)While every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of this report it is intended as a guide to your usage of your phone only.(...)
    .
This is the site online "usage checking" feature after you register; the desktop application has the same problems mentioned before.

    Also about the desktop application:

My experience with meteor broadband pay as you go 30 day pass:
While I was using it perfectly inside time (30days) and data cap(7.5gb) limits:
    -by clicking in the tab € Balance I was able to see the remaining time and data in the reply with the application txt messaging functionality;

It is my belief that I have a few Mb left but access was cut and the desktop application € Balance click replies only that I have 40€ and nothing else. So, I click the € Top up tab and then Buy 30 Day Pass to use the txt messaging system to activate one 30 day pass with the reply: "Your 30 day pass is still active" . Trying to activate a pass online gives same error with an indication to seek customer support...
Other users reported the same problem and oddly are able to activate (more expensive/Mb) 1 day passes without the "30 day pass is still active" error.

After this I will not buy more meteor products any time soon.

Surely they can just change the sql query to give the proper results?

On payg I had the same as the problem as above with a massive table of data and no precise answer of my data usage.

On bill pay for the same service the data usage is displayed simply and clearly.

Seems like they're just having a sneaky go at the payg users so they well may go over their caps easier... I have gone over a payg cap a few times and you get a text a good while AFTER you go over the cap and the damage is done.

So are they legally just displaying the data for Payg but doing it in an arseways way?

They changed their pricing recently I think for when you go over the cap.. I remember they were charging per kb for going over caps!
