Hey. I have 06 Focus diesel. Just today when driving home to Cork from Waterford when I was stopped in traffic my oli light came on. Disappeared the minute I took off again. When I strat the car the oil light stays on but once I drive it goes off. The oil level is fine, any reason why the light would come on when stopped anf go off again?
    Tahnks!

My guess is low oil pressure or defective oil pressure switch in the engine. When you rev up the car to take off the pressure builds up again and the oil pressure switch turns off.

Hopefully the pressure switch is the problem as it's usually quick, simple and cheap fix.

Need to get it checked asap in case it really is low oil pressure.

PS : check the dipstick is down properly. On some cars a badly fitted dipstick can trigger the oil light (false low oil level warning)

Thanks for that. Getting someone to check it out tomorrow! Hopefully something simple to fix! Also seems to come on when I'm on downward slope so fingers crossed just the pressure switch!

If its the 1.6 tdci i'd put in an engine flush and drop the oil refill with fully syn 5w 30 + new oil filter.....Get it checked asap other wise your turbo could be at risk of failing...
