    hi all,

sooo happy, i got the BTEA approval today. :D. just wondering tho, when will the payment start? i have started course this week and i have provided them the letter from college so payment can be issued.

i am an adult dependent and for this week's JSA collection, my partner still collect for both of us eventhough ive started college. just wonder when will my payment be separated from his. do i have to fill out forms or something? theres no further instruction on the approval letter.

when do we normally start receiving BTEA? from the commencing date? when should i stop receiving JSA? because i dont want any arrears. SW did say they will backdate BTEA, but my worry is if the JSA available in the Post Office is still for both of us then i will have arrears somehow. also obviously i prefer to get BTEA rates rather than adult dependent rates.

good luck to everyone waiting. just keep asking them, phone, go in person etc, i did.. because i couldnt understand, someone from college got his approval just 2 weeks after submission,... me?? my submission was JUNE, guess they put me bottom of the files, thx very much. well i got it now so ill put all that behind me :)

I got approved 2 weeks ago, sent off the letter saying I was registered last tuesday and I got a payment into my bank a/c on eithe wednesday or thursday of this week. I'm not entirely sure if that was a backpayment from JSA or an actualy payment from BTEA. I'll find if I get paid next week or not.

ah so maybe the payment will switch in a couple of weeks. im getting 124 as an adult dependent, and with BTEA i get 188, the 64 euro difference means a lot to me, im paying 200 already for books and occupational courses, and its only my 1st week

    thanks siblers

There's an additional 500 euro allowance you can apply for to pay for books etc, although I'm not entirely sure how you go about applying for it.

hopefully it works cause college is 9-5.
does anyone know how to cost of education is paid? bank a/c?
cant find info online anywhere for that sorta thing

    hi golden,

i got a letter today from Social Protection. Mine will be transferred into my bank acc every Thursday until the end of my course. i dont think they transfer BTEA on the same day as your JSA cuz my partner collects for us every Friday. im just glad its all come through now so I can concentrate on my course.

    good luck

Just a note on the €500 grant, you automatically are entitled to it if you get approved for BTEA, and it goes into our accounts sometime around the end of October :)

I would have thought that youd get that on near or with your first bank payment.
I had given them the wrong thing so I gave them the letter i got with my student card and my last JSA will be next week and BTEA from the following Thursday
    Glad thats sorted now

sorry to hear that :(. u might wanna go into the office to sort it out quick. it may be the case of backpay/arrears etc, things like that might be a bit awkward to sort over the phone. just a suggestion anyway. good luck

Yeah I thought so too, since I'll have spent €50 on books by the end of next week, the €500 is welcome, but a tad late? o.O

    Quick question on this

Going into second year, and at the end of first year (May), I got switched from BTEA to JobSeekers Allowance for the summer.

I thought I would then have to supply a letter from college upon commencing 2nd year to switch again to BTEA but on my payment receipt this week it says BTEA and not Jobseekers, so does this mean they've switched me back automatically without requiring a letter?

    Cheers

I got approved for my btea last friday, and the letter said i would not be paid into my account until i have sent the sw a letter confirming my college registration...which i havent done yet!

But i was paid into my account on wednesday, so i didnt go to the post office to collect money this week! And now im due to sign on this week at my social welfare office, but not sure if i have to now that it seems ive been switched to btea! I wont be able to make it to the office to sign this week, as ill be in classes, and they never answer their phones....so i dont know what to do, i dont want the payments to stop if i miss my signing date!

This happened to anyone before, or any ideas??

You shouldn't need to sign on. I started college the 19th and was due to sign on the 20th and they disregarded it because I was in wait for BTEA. Mind you, I gave them a letter stating when I was starting, so I don't know what the process is if you have not registered yet.
