Are pro boots worth the money

Just looking at the adidas and nike sites

On the nike one they have different kinds of the same boot.

    The pro one is 235
The others are about 70 to 135

What is actually the difference. I kinda understand this from a marketing point of view. Have 3 prices instead of an average so you'll get the people willing to pay top dollar (235) as well as the people who can't afford that at all (70)

Is any boot really worth 235 quid?

Personally I wouldn't pay more than €50 for a pair of football boots, although I do spend a fortune on runners.

The ones in the bright homo colours are worth every penny.

I've been told that they can make free kicks go at over 100 miles an hour.

Do not, under any circumstances, pay more than 50-70 quid for a pair of boots. The only reason to spend more is to tell people you spent more.

Comfort should be the 1st thing you think about

If a pair for €30 and are ok comfort wise and a pair for €100 and are very comfortable, i'd pick the latter everyday

235 for a pair of boots

50 euro is the most I'd pay too.
Modern boots just dont last ,you'd do well to get 6-12 months out of a pair .
I'm convinced the manufacturers design the boots with weak points that will tear after a short period of time.

Almost every pair of Nike and Adidas I've ever had always go in the same spot,on the outside of the front left toe.
Left shoe is always the first to go while the right is almost perfect.
Seems to be a common complaint from people I have spoken to about it.

just buy two right boots :pac:

Worth every penny - you'll possibly find cheaper wich a bit of searching

although i do see the OP's point, that's just funny, a whole 20g lighter, no wonder nobody can catch Messi!

Spending 235 euro on a pair of boots is madness. However spending 30-60 quid on a pair is also madness imo as more often than not they are the cheapest of the cheap and they will cause you cuts, blisters, break straight away and the leather on them will go hard in no time.

I always spend around 120 on a good pair of boots that last awhile. Much more comfortable (from my own experience) and keep shape better. Love boots that you can really get a good touch and feel for the ball.

However my last pair of boots were a month old when I tore my cruciate so they will forever be tainted. :(

It's a well known fact that spending €235 on a pair of football boots will turn your average sunday league player in messi :D

You must be amazing to wear bright coloured boots, if you're anyway terrible you'll look like a tool. Although the boots might make you fantastic, in which case go for them

best pair of boots you can buy would be the umbro speciali's..they work out at about 100 to 120 euro and will last you a full season of trainin twice a week and a match every weekend in them...best pair of adidas i ever got were the second type of f50's that came out, the net type ones, got them in the grey/yellow, like these http://www.google.com/imgres?q=adidas+f50%27s&um=1&hl=en&biw=1280&bih=707&tbm=isch&tbnid=fjbyLfrxlFXjvM:&imgrefurl=http://www.groupin.pk/blog/adidas-f50-shoes-for-sale-in-pakistan-get-discounts-on-football-shoes/&docid=9XEM-zoSzzQNrM&w=450&h=309&ei=QGpzTuKuIYic-was9fjDDA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=193&vpy=164&dur=4561&hovh=186&hovw=271&tx=112&ty=65&page=1&tbnh=148&tbnw=216&start=0&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0 but i was wearing them one day in a match, went in for a tackle and the whole boot split in two, it looked like my foot had snapped in half...but this was after about 4 years after i had bought them...so comfortable...

No need to pay that kind of money, your best bet is to avoid those fancy ones and just get a decent well made classic boot that'll last. Something like puma kings, adidas world cup or umbro speciali.

Cheaper boots wont be real leather and tend to fall apart after a few months of regular use (quicker if your not a fan of cleanign them). It a thin layer of a synthetic material over the filler like a skin.

I've got had 3 pairs of Asics boots for Rugby last season. The cheapest ones fell apart. They split where the material meet the sole snd the top layer peeled back. Real leather doesnt do that. Real leather is much more comfortable too. I picked up a pair of mouldies in the Nike outlet shop up north last year. The Ronaldinho ones that come with a fancy bacg and all. They originally sold for €140 or somesuch but there isnt a comparison between them and the pedators I was useing before (the cheap ones, not the €150 ones) that were harder and fell apart. The Nike ones are like wearign slippers and after a year are shoing no signs of wear.

Agree with above. You pay for quality. That said, over €150 is taking the piss. I paid €109 for mine (adidas adipure) last Christmas and they're still in good condition. Whenever I bought boots for less than €80 I'd fond my self buying another pair with 6 months max.

€235 is mental. Dunno hoe anyone could justify spending that much, well maybe if you were a professional footballer on thousands a week.

If you we a professional then youd get the for free :) 235 is over the odds but I'd have no issue with spending €120 or maybe €150 at a push for the right pair. Most I've actually paid was €80ish but they are proper leather.

    €235!

My last two pairs cost me €42. Well, €22 as I had a voucher.

In my own experience all this talk of paying more for the name and not for longevity is a load of rubbish. I bought a pair of Predators (Kangaroo leather that molds around the the foot) 6 years ago and used them for both Rugby and Football and 6 years later they're still in great condition. If you feel you're going to use them extensively then it's worth the investment. They WILL NOT fall apart after 6 months.

if you are on 30k plus a week its certainly cool to spend 235pound on boots.

It's a pity Predators these days are pretty shocking boots. Old Preds were quality, but a waste of time buying them for the past 4 or so years.

To answer the OP simply no is the answer, but it all depends who is buying them, I'd always go for the middle range and wouldn't even give the cheapest ones to my dog!

For people who pay no more than 50 on boots how much do you play and what boots do you buy for 50 quid and how long do they last?

Better off getting a pair that are comfortable even if it means spending the extra few quid.

    adidas World Cup - 100 quid - http://www.prodirectsoccer.com/Products/adidas-Football-Boots-adidas-World-Cup-Soccer-Shoes-Soft-Ground-Black-White-10346.aspx

Wait untill Adidas or Nike have a brand new spanking boot with a number and decimal at the end like the Nike Superfly X-Type 3.0, and then go on ebay and get the model before that at a knockdown price.

When I saw Nani in those orange (now luminous yellow ) Adidas F50+, I went and got the nicer, much more normal pair of F50's for €80, down from €180. And they are cracking boots.

Depends on the particular boots. I would say yes.

The k-leather Asics boots are really good i find.

Mine are always cheap coz they are kid sizes. :D

I remember thinking they were fake until the guys in here put me straight.

Well that's the first I heard of it. If it's true I'm sorry to see such a great boot go down the tubes.

I would any amount Adidas wanted for a pair of Copa Mundials. Well worth it.

I'd never buy a cheap version of a proper boot as the quality is obviously shitter and I prefer longevity over a quick fix.

They're just regular boots now, the slightly plastic material with the leather. The older material was much better and more comfortable too IMO. New Preds dont differ that much either from year to year.

I once was offered a pair of Cristiano Ronaldo's brand boots for €40 by a black fella while I was on holidays in Gran Canaria. He said Ronaldo even signed them and he showed me his signature...

For €235 I would expect them to go out a score a hattrick whilst I sleep off my hangover in the dressing room .

Couldn't agree more with this. I'm at the stage where I'm going to stay at 8.5-9 boot size. I bought a pair of Mundials for €99 last summer and I'm hoping they'll last me for a few years. The last boots I had I got 5 years out of them and the ones before that I got 3 years out of them.

If you pay €100 make sure that the quality of the material is very good and they should last you a few years. You'll save hundreds by doing that. Pay for cheap quality and that's what you'll get. You'll be out every 5 months buying a new pair.

They're aren't even proper "pro" boots.

A lot of the premiership and top European players would have their boots made bespoke for their foot shape and level of support needed.

Why do you spend a fortune on runners? Saucony and Asics have the best runners out there (for actual running I mean) and they are all very affordable.

Adidas World Cups are the boots I buy. Never let me down.
