Sounds like a FF senator is going to go for the presidency. Mary O'Rourke on Newstalk just called him very right wing and conservative. Never heard of him myself.

FF are grasping and straws now Martin has been totally discredited by their Presidential candidate fiasco.

Anyone think he has a chance?

I suspect that anyone right wing may attract support support from people who would never otherwise support them just as a protest against the censorship being applied by the media in relation to one particulr candidate or former candidate. Yes there is irony in supporting a right wing candidate as a protest against censorship ! But this is ireland.

Never heard of him, but given the crap that MO'R has come out with up to now I'd read the above as meaning that he's very left wing and liberal.

That aside, if he is indeed right wing and conservative then this is just FF trying to steal a knee-jerk anti-Norris vote by providing the complete opposite.

And no - he hasn't a hope given that he's an FF candidate.....he'll get their usual unshiftable blinkered core vote and nothing else.

Build a new Central Capital - Ériu, on a green-field site near Moate, and economically and spatially develop Ireland like the spokes of a wheel with Ériú as the axle.

Yes, he spells Ériu two different ways in one sentence.

You would not do well if he was president. He wants:

"legislation to cut out internet hate campaign."

"The Data Protection Commissioner should have the power to ask for online threads to be removed, and to request the real names of abusive contributors, without having to resort to court orders."

    I also like this one:

"21. Believe that all Irish citizens should respect the fact that they are citizens of a Republic.

Therefore, believe that any Irish citizen who wants to accept any title or award (MBE, CBE etc) from the British Monarchy, should hand in their Irish passport, and sink or swim as Brits. This should be clearly stated in the Irish Constitution."

Can we have sink or swim in the constitution?

It would have made it interesting alright! But he's way too extreme, out of all the statements against civil partnership, his was the most extreme, the most hurtful and the most dangerous.
